Fantastic initiative #treatournhs, shared by Akin member Elspeth of Petworth-based @moncrieffbray ・・・ My friend Sarah Bowman @sarahbowman236 started this initiative by offering her studio holiday let to NHS workers. From there #treatournhs has snowballed. Over 700 people have now offered free holidays including the Dorchester, Clivedon and The Pig Hotel is offering every room in all its hotels to NHS staff when they reopen. By coincidence, another friend has just told me about her daughter, a newly qualified doctor working with Covid 19 in the East End of London drained and exhausted and having to live on her own. It is so tough with self-isolation her family can’t be there for her. So please share this with all the NHS workers you know who will so badly need a holiday. It makes a huge difference to know we are thinking of them and there is light at the end of the tunnel #treatournhs #givingback.

Moncrieff Bray is run by fellow Akin member Elspeth Moncrieff. ⁣⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣⁣ Annabel: "In this global artistic spirit, 'One Oeuf is Enough' by Leonie Gibbs (@leogibbs) seems to be a perfect introduction to my chosen three! Based in the far reaches of the Scottish Highlands, she is very much influenced by the Scottish Colourists. Such an incredibly bold combination of colours, reminding me of the Fauvists too of course.⁣⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣⁣ "Elspeth seems to have a way with discovering some amazing sculptors – their work looking staggering in the rural gallery setting. We are delighted to share new designs from Akin members Pamela and Martin of @martinhuxforddesign. Shown here is the 'Element Chandelier, due to launch at @Decorex_international, Kensington Olympia (6-9 October). ⁣⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣⁣ For Martin and Pamela, 'the real thrill comes from seeing a sketched idea, progress to handcrafted reality.' This chandelier is a circular construct, created from over 1,000 identical pieces of hand-finished brass, each of which has been pierced to accentuate the refracted light within the layers. ⁣⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣⁣ Martin uses the Modernist grid as a guiding principle. The creation of order and form through layering, repetition and interconnection are key to this mathematically precise design. The solid brass, the most sustainable recycled metal available, was handcrafted at the designers' workshop here in West Sussex.⁣⁣ . Just over a week to go until the 2019 @arundelgallerytrail launches! 💥We are delighted to share these works by Akin's @karin_moorhouse_art. She gives us a wonderful sense of the final preps before the arts extravaganza begins! ⁣⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣⁣ "Now on the final straight for the Arundel Gallery Trail – putting finishing touches to paintings, sorting displays and postcards of my new works and generally panicking …. of course! …. Have I got enough work? Where am I going to hang it all? How will I group the stories? And so on…..but I think it will work out… it usually does though nobody can see how madly we are all paddling under the surface!⁣⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣⁣ This year I have three main groups of work: the first room will be loosely about “People”; the main gallery/room will focus more on “Places"; and the Studio will be “Small is Beautiful”.⁣⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣⁣ The clues are in the titles and I may yet change it all around!!'⁣⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣⁣ We are intrigued, Karin! Her work will be exhibited at No. 1 School Lane in Arundel, from 17-26 August.

Her work covers three areas: mentoring senior people with communication responsibilities; delivering marketing and leadership training in Europe, the Middle East and China; and leading communications for complex projects. 'Five years ago, over the August bank holiday, a close friend introduced us to Amberley. We fell in love with the place but needed more nightlife. So he also brought us to Arundel and we fell in love all over again. It took us a year of regular visits to find our cottage. We now spend half our time in Arundel and the other half nearby an elderly mum in Ealing. For us to move to Arundel full time we need just a few things: a business network where I can learn and collaborate, an easy-to-walk-to gym and a lively local church. We are AKIN and our hugely talented members Mark and Rebecca Ford of @twocirclesdesign are about to take Arundel by storm again. ⚡️ This is the design for Cenezoic 2019, due to be installed on the Arundel Castle at the top of the High Street. Created in willow and pigmentation, this work pays homage to our ancestors and their cave paintings, and reflects this year’s @arundelgallerytrail poster design.
