Textile Designer

I’ve spent a long time being fascinated by the structure of woven textiles. Teaching it, writing 9 books about it, BBC TV series about it, designing textiles for companies in UK, USA, Japan. Exhibiting works involving it, lecturing about it: a committed life. Now I have changed tack and am incorporating the principle into constructions and paint, and have had 5 solo shows in public and private galleries, and more to come. I have instigated many national and international events, from the Arundel Gallery Trail to the International Exhibitions of Miniature Textiles. Happiest when on the sea in not-too-small a vessel, and have travelled the world on container ships.

Specialisms:

Woven textile design ideas, practical ideas for anything from words, promotions, industry from soap to steel, fine art, media, design, introductions, and everything to do with making things happen.

Clients:

HM King Moshoeshoe of Lesotho, The Crown Prince of Qatar, Ralph Lauren, Junichi Arai, Dame Stephanie Shirley, Southampton City Art Gallery, Winchester Cathedral, Contemporary Art Society, Lyons Cakes.
