Akin member, Amanda Kerin, who is hosting the event, explains why procrastination is bad news for your brain (and your bank balance!) – and how coworking can help...

Procrastination is very real, make no mistake! Often, we think of procrastination as lacking motivation, life distracting us, or fear of heading into the unknown!

Working from home has impacted us all. Most of us experience zoom fatigue on a regular basis as the virtual working world continues to be our reality.

The interruptions and distractions working from home impact our day; parcels arriving, household chores, and kids and partner around the house - with or without covid!

You’re always distracted by the hundreds of quick easy little jobs, rather than getting the big win tasks done first because there’s always something more appealing to do, than the task you know you need to be working on!

But procrastination is serious; it has an impact on your mental and emotional health as it can cause peaks of unnecessary stress, anxiety and even frustration. Worst of all, procrastination and poor time management can have a detrimental effect on your creativity - the unique part of you!

Whether you have a work structure or routine or you’re a last-minute deliverer, your reputation and quality or work you produce is on the line. And you are only as good as the last job you delivered, which can affect where the next job is coming from.

One solution is coworking? Have you tried it? Akin member Amanda Kerin, host of the Pop Up Coworking event in Arundel on 9th March, explains everything you need to know about coworking - and how it could transform your creativity, focus, productivity and reduce your procrastination!

Used to running digital coworking sessions, one of Amanda’s clients says, ‘It's like a magnet for my bum to stay on the chair!’

What is coworking?

Coworking can work in various ways, but essentially, it’s a group of like-minded people working on their own tasks in the same room physically and in a creative environment.

This coworking event, in Arundel Town Hall from 9am to 1pm on 9th February, offers you the opportunity to step out from your virtual world and reap the benefits of working in real life with other creative minds.

At the Arundel event, there will also be networking break at 11am, giving you the opportunity to talk to other creative minds whilst you’re there. Think of the collaborations that might result from networking! There is so much creative talent living in and around Arundel - you never know who you might meet!

Working with colleagues and having teammates to bounce ideas off is a rare treat when you run your gig. Working in a creative environment is soooo good for us, not just mentally but for the soul too.

Whether you’re still squirrelling yourself away from IRL events or starting to get out there and experience some sort of social normality again, one thing is that your creativity has been dying from being locked away for too long!

We are humans and hard wired for connection (Brene Brown says so!), so when you’re working at home trying to focus on getting stuff done and the zoom connection is just not doing it, join us for pop up coworking and experience it for yourself.
