AKIN member Susan Robertson, has just launched her new West Sussex design company and website.
The homepage of susan-robertson.comhums with recent local brand identity projects for Juniper café, on Tarrant Street, and the Swanbourne Lake café.
But Susan has been creating logos and brand identities for companies big and small for 15 years. Remember the ‘strong and sturdy’ orange elephants on the Sainsbury's Bags of Personality? Susan. Maybe you saw the 50th anniversary logo in the night sky above the Manchester’s most famous cobbles along Coronation Street? Susan.
Did you have friendly-looking, woolly white reindeer skipping across your Boots voucher at Christmas? Susan. “My goal is always to help clients communicate clearly with the world through memorable, creative, design that engages the audience and creates difference,” says Susan.
When people come to Susan looking for a logo and visual identity they often aren't sure what it involves. "They’re surprised to find that the process itself helps clarify in their minds what makes them unique and special,” explains Susan. “I aim to make the branding process exciting and rewarding for my clients, offering what I hope is a new and surprising creative perspective, while retaining a practical problem-solving approach." Starting her own business felt like the natural next career step and Susan feels now more than ever companies need to stand out through design.
“In an increasingly crowded marketplace, with so many demands on our attention if companies want our business they need to be noticed,” she explains. “A well conceived brand strategy and brand identity is not just a 'nice to have’ it's an essential prerequisite for growth." It goes without saying that Susan’s business brand definitely has what it takes to attract attention – and clients.
